Tiles Notebook
Introducing the Azulejo Tiles Notebook from Terra Lusa, inspired by the beautiful and intricate art of Portuguese tiles. Derived from the Arabic word “Zellige,” meaning “polished stone,” the word “Azulejo” reflects the unmistakable Arabic origins of Portuguese tiles. These tiles feature interlocking curvilinear, geometric, or floral motifs that imitate the original Roman mosaics. While not a Portuguese invention, glazed tiles have been used more imaginatively and consistently in Portugal than in any other nation, becoming an art form in their own right. By the 18th century, no other European country was producing as many tiles in such a variety of designs and for such a wide range of purposes.
Today, tiles remain an important part of Portugal’s architecture, with churches, monasteries, palaces, and even houses covered inside and out with exuberant Baroque designs. The Azulejo Tiles Notebook is part of Terra Lusa’s collection of products that pay tribute to Portuguese Cultural Heritage, with each item representing 800 years of history, culture, and tradition. The collection includes notebooks, wrist watches, fans, eco bags, mini umbrellas, glasses cases, microfibre cloths, and adjustable book covers, all divided into themes of Portuguese roots and designed with quality and contemporary design in mind. Celebrate the rich artistic heritage of Portugal with the Azulejo Tiles Notebook.
